Silence during Mass

“The observance of the moments of silence envisioned by the liturgy is of great importance.” Papal instruction about the liturgy.  What we say at Mass is important, but more important is listening to what God says. Silence during the mass is our invitation to listen to what the Lord is saying to us in this most wonderful sacrament.  Fr. Bobby

"Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

The angel took me in spirit to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. Our lives as Christians are always lived “in between.”  We try to make our society and structures here on earth the best we can, but we also know that we will never reach perfection in this world. The good news of Jesus’ RESURRECTION is that this world will be TRANSFORMED! That means we have to work as hard as we can to build a world of justice, peace, and love, yet not be discouraged when we do not find our efforts working out, when we constantly have to try again. It is within those struggles to live Jesus’ words that the Spirit works.

As we come to Memorial Day we pray for all those who have served to protect our nation. We salute their efforts and pains, while at the same time praying that there will be true and lasting peace for all people. May the Risen Christ bless all of you!  Fr. Bobby

"Jesus keeps knocking on our doors, the doors of our lives. He doesn't do this by magic, with special effects, with flashing lights and fireworks. Jesus keeps knocking on our door in the faces of our brothers and sisters, in the faces of our neighbors, in the faces of those at our side."   Pope Francis

“It is not enough to say we are Christians. We must live the faith not only with words but with our actions”  - Pope Francis

Pope Francis: Remember the spiritual as much as the corporal works of mercy

@ArchbishopGomez: Friends, we need to practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy - seeking contact with our Lord through serving others.
