Directory of Hispanic Ministries

Since the founding of Old Mission Santa Inés, we have been blessed with a culturally diverse population. Spanish, English and Native Americans attended the founding celebration and mass. Latin, English and Spanish messages were spoken according to Fr. Zephyrin Englehardt, OFM in his book, Mission Santa Ines Virgen Y Martir, McNally & Loftin,1986.

Although the mission receives visitors from all over the world, today's parishioners are English speaking and Spanish speaking. Masses are celebrated in both English and Spanish with bilingual masses on special Holy Days, feast days or celebrations.

Hispanic ministries are devoted to our parishioners who prefer to celebrate mass in the Spanish language. Mass traditions and Holy Days are celebrated based on the Hispanic cultures of Mexico.  During Advent and Easter and other Feast Days, live enactments of the celebration story are performed by the Hispanic ministry.  Included are the story of Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Passion of Christ and Corpus Christi.

Hispanic ministries include worship and liturgy groups - lectors, eucharistic ministers, ushers, greeters, acolytes and music - as well as religious education, faith formation and family life including retreats and cultural study groups.
