Los Angeles Archdiocese - The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is the largest Archdiocese in the United States and it includes three counties: Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara covering 8,762 square miles and as of 2005 includes 4,349,267 Roman Catholics and a total population of 11,258,600. There are 288 parishes located in 120 cities including seven missions and chapels and nine Eastern Catholic churches. There are 225 Catholic elementary schools with around 65,000 students and 53 Catholic high schools with about 30,000 students. Together they are one of the three largest school systems in California in the public or private sectors. The Archdiocese is in a culturally mixed environment and 72 different ethnic services are offered including clergy, liturgy, social services, publications, counseling, and cultural affairs.
The Tidings Online - The Tidings is published weekly, 49 times a year, under the direction of Archbishop José H. Gomez as a service to the people of God in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The Newspaper began publication in 1895. With a circulation of 80,000, it is the oldest weekly newspaper in the Los Angeles market and the oldest continuously published Catholic newspaper on the West Coast of the United States. The Archdiocese reports that the paper reaches 230,000 active adult readers every week. Past issues dating back to 2005 are available on the paper's web site. Santa Barbara Pastoral Region - is a pastoral region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles covering Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. It serves Deaneries 1-4. Deanery 1 is Santa Maria, Lompoc and Solvang. Deanery 2 is Goleta, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. Deanery 3 is Ojai, Ventura, Port Hueneme and Oxnard. Deanery 4 is Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Moorpark and Simi Valley. There are 37 Parishes, 6 High schools, 3 hospitals, and 4 Spanish Missions. The region is home to over 1 million Catholics.
