Statement On Religious Exemption For Vaccination
“Receiving one of the COVID-19 vaccines ought to be understood as an act of charity toward the other members of our community. In this way, being vaccinated safely against COVID-19 should be considered an act of love of our neighbor and part of our moral responsibility for the common good.” - USCCB, Moral Considerations Regarding the New COVID-19 Vaccines

A Message from our Pastor, Fr. Bobby
“If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Did you know that our Mission was founded on the Feast Day of the Stigmata of Saint Francis (September 17), commemorating the day he received the wounds of Christ? Friar Esteban Tapis chose this day to remind the friars and others gathered that day that the heart of Christianity is loving service, following the example of Jesus. The patroness of our Mission, Saint Agnes of Rome, was a young girl who chose to serve God by being faithful to her faith as a Christian and being loving even in the face of death. I pray St. Agnes and St. Francis may help all of us here to follow the example of Jesus, to seek to serve and not to be served, to become the last of all. In that is life!
May the Lord bless you all! Fr. Bobby
As we emerge from a time of crisis, Jesus invites His Church in Los Angeles to rise anew. With providential timing, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has an occasion for such a new beginning: the 250th anniversary of the founding of Mission San Gabriel Archangel by St. Junípero Serra. As proclaimed at each Mass, Archbishop José H. Gomez has declared a Jubilee Year in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles beginning September 11, 2021, and concluding September 10, 2022. This “Forward in Mission” Jubilee Year celebration will be a special time of grace not only to remember the rich legacy of the Catholic faith in this land but above all, to revive the life of faith in our local Church through a fresh proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the raising up of a new generation of missionary disciples.
