Many people say that Jesus’ teaching to love our enemies is both the heart of the Gospel and also its biggest challenge. However, in today’s passage from Matthew 5 we also hear: But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one as well. Loving our enemies is something perhaps we can do from a distance, but how do we follow Jesus’ teaching when we are faced with our enemies in front of us? This not only seems difficult: often it may seem impossible! This is why we come together to pray and to remember two things: Jesus lived these words for our salvation, and he reminds us nothing will be impossible for God. May He help us as we come to the time of Lent and seek to repent and begin again.

Please plan to join us for our parish mission given by Fr. Francis Russo, OFM Cap. I have known Fr. Francis for many years and am delighted he agreed to come and share with us from his wisdom and experience as a friar both in Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico. See the inside of the bulletin for details. God bless and keep you always!     Fr. Bobby

Are any among you sick?
Please remember to call the parish office to let us know of anyone who is ill, especially if someone is in the hospital or in serious condition at home. We want to pray for our ill brothers and sisters and make sure they receive the support of the sacraments. God bless! Fr. Bobby

"Jesus keeps knocking on our doors, the doors of our lives. He doesn't do this by magic, with special effects, with flashing lights and fireworks. Jesus keeps knocking on our door in the faces of our brothers and sisters, in the faces of our neighbors, in the faces of those at our side."   Pope Francis
