A Message from our Pastor, Fr. Bobby

When they had gathered together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He answered them, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority.” The Apostles were anxious to know the exact time of fulfillment, but Jesus would not tell them. He wanted them to concentrate on something more important: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. There are many people wondering if the current pandemic is a sign of the end of the world, and too many people ready to say they know the day and the hour. Jesus could come again tomorrow; it could be in a million years. He doesn’t want us to focus on knowing the exact time. Jesus wants us to use the time we are given, even a time of pandemic, to proclaim the Kingdom of God, even to the ends of the earth. May the Holy Spirit help us now to know what that means.

May God bless and watch over you and strengthen your faith, hope, and love each day!       Fr. Bobby

Prayer in the Time of the Coronavirus

Most Reverend José H. Gomez Archbishop of Los Angeles

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels
and Mother of the Americas.

We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, healer of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.
Amen.
