Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Agnes, a young martyr whose life shines with courage, purity of heart, and unwavering love for Christ. Though she was very young, Agnes chose faithfulness over fear and trust over compromise. Her strength did not come from power or status, but from a heart deeply rooted in God.
Saint Agnes reminds us that holiness is not about age or ability, but about belonging completely to the Lord. In a world that often pressures us to conform, her witness encourages us to stand firm in our values, to protect the dignity God has given us, and to live our faith with simplicity and courage.
May Saint Agnes inspire our young people to be brave in their faith, our families to grow in love and fidelity, and all of us to follow Christ with joyful conviction.
Through her intercession, may our parish be renewed in faith, hope, and love.
Saint Agnes pray for us,
Fr. Lijoy Jose, OFM Cap.

What “nets” might we be holding onto that prevent us from following Jesus more fully—our fears, habits, comforts, or reluctance to change? Where is the Lord inviting us today to bring His light, His hope, and His healing love?
The Gospel reminds us that God’s light shines most powerfully in moments of darkness. When John the Baptist is arrested, Jesus does not withdraw in fear. Instead, He steps forward and begins His mission. In Galilee—an ordinary place among ordinary people—the ancient promise of Isaiah is fulfilled: “The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light.” That same light shines as Jesus calls Simon, Andrew, James, and John. They are not learned scholars or influential leaders, but simple fishermen. Yet, when Jesus says, “Come after me,” they respond without delay. They leave behind their nets, their security, and even their families, choosing to place their trust in Him. This is the heart of discipleship: listening to the Lord’s call and responding with faith, courage, and generosity. May we, like those first disciples, hear Jesus calling us today and follow Him with joyful hearts, confident that when we walk with Him, He leads us from darkness into the radiant light of God’s Kingdom In Christ, |
