Jesus and the Father are great builders. Each prayer is like a brick or a stone that we contribute to the construction of one of God's works. The project will almost always be bigger than we imagine. God asks us to be patient and to support others as we offer our prayers to God. If we don't quickly receive what we ask for, we recall that 1 or 2 bricks is not sufficient to finish the construction of a house or a hospital. We may be content with asking for something less than God wants.
In contrast, He asks us to be patient, to persevere in prayer, to keep contributing to something much grander. We can offer God our prayers of thanks, or worship, of
contrition, or petition. In every prayer, as we learn from the Our Father, we should pray for the grace to accept God's will and to do our part in His plan.
Do we offer God more than just prayers of petition?
Do we ask for the faith to say, "thy will be done"?
