Volunteer members of the Old Mission Santa Ines Society of St.Vincent de Paul Conference of Charity traveled to Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles on June 3 to serve lunch to 70 homeless men and women at the society’s Cardinal Manning Center.
“Our mission is simple: to help the needy of any religious background with the spirit of love and compassion and on this day, a hearty lunch, said Sally Corlett, Santa Ynez resident and volunteer. "We felt called to help the homeless in Los Angeles as part of our service to others.”
The Old Mission Santa Ines Conference is part of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Los Angeles. Volunteer members belong to parish conferences of charity and are known as Vincentians. In 2015, Old Mission Santa Ines Conference celebrated 15 years of service to the parish and the community.
