Youth Day Project

The Hospitality and Community Care Ministry is actively recruiting support - spiritually, physically and financially - from parishioners to send parish teens to Youth Day on February 25, 2016.  Youth Day is an annual event sponsored by the Los Angeles Archdiocese Office of Religious Education. It is held on the Thursday before the Religious Education Congress (ReCongress) begins the next day. Over 15,000+ teens attend Youth Day and over 40,000+ Catholics attend ReCongress each year. Both are held at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Teens attending Youth Day will experience the love of God in ways they can relate easily to as a a teen.  The program theme is based on the scriptures or readings for that day.  Many teens throughout the Archdiocese are trained in leadership positions to lead the program.  A song based on the program theme is created by a well known Christian band who perform the song during the arena rally.  Workshops with relevant topics for teens are led by professional speakers including some from the clergy. Mass is celebrated with Archbishop Gomez.

Below is an overview of Youth Day 2015 so you can see the program format, the involvement of not only the teen leadership but also teens attending.  Their joy and excitement from Youth Day creates fire in their souls for Jesus. Our goal is for teens in our parish and the Santa Ynez Valley to have this experience and bring their enthusiasm and fire in their souls for Jesus back to the parish and community.
